Local MP, Alec Shelbrooke, has welcomed news that Elmet & Rothwell will benefit from a share of £41 million from the Government's Levelling Up Fund.
Two key locations where bus services experience delays will benefit locally:
• Main Street, Garforth
• Selby Road, Garforth (junction with Chapel Street)
These improvements will reduce delays and improve services along the wider route, e.g. the 163 which goes onto Kippax, Great Preston and Allerton Bywater.
This comes on top of a further £70 million given to the Mayor of West Yorkshire for a wider bus improvement plan across the region.
Alec said: "All we need now is for the Labour Mayor to actually use the money wisely and deliver wider improved services for bus users, because at present many people in Garforth, Kippax, Rothwell, Wetherby and surrounding villages complain the buses simply don't turn up when they should!"
