Peter became involved with the local party in April 2005 as he was keen to use the skills developed over 30 years running a commercial insurance broking practice, the last 20 years as principal. He sold the business in 2001 but continued to look after his clients until the end of 2007.

Born in Kent, Peter worked in the City until the job took him to Leeds in 1968. The following year he married a Yorkshire lass from Huddersfield and they have two married sons.

Outside of the Association, Peter is also the Sponsorship Secretary and a singing member of the Wetherby Choral Society. Other interests are walking, IT, fine art and golf.
