UPDATE: GARFORTH LEISURE CENTRE

Garforth‟s Conservative Council candidate Ryan Stephenson was astonished to discover that information released by Leeds City Council referring to the Schools Partnership Trust (SPT) was inaccurate.

Prior to the May election, a scrutiny investigation heard that high level negotiations had taken place finalising details for the SPT to take over the running of the Leisure Centre.

It has now been revealed that the SPT only ever showed an interest in supporting a community group to take on the responsibility of running the centre and at no stage suggested that they would invest money in the facility.

Ryan Stephenson said: “It is concerning that the Labour run Council misled voters in the run up to the election. If they had shown more interest in securing a future for the centre rather than playing politics with it, the Council would have recognised that a well run organisation such as the SPT would have been an asset to any
