MINI-ROUNDABOUT TO EASE WETHERBY TRAFFIC CONGESTION
Monday, 18 July, 2011
Traffic congestion in Wetherby, particularly between Caxton Street and Crossley Street is the focus of improvement works thanks to Wetherby ward Councillors.
To ease the problem, additional parking restrictions have previously been introduced but these are only having a limited effect.
Cllr Gerald Wilkinson announced: “Within the next few weeks a mini-roundabout is to be constructed at the junction of Spofforth Hill and Linton Road which, in the opinion of the City’s Highways Department and the local police, should create gaps in traffic movements thus easing the Westgate bottleneck.”
The total cost of the mini-roundabout is approximately £70k, with one third being provided by Wetherby ward Councillors using their discretionary funds.
